The Department of Animal Science will be hosting the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Camp at the Rosenthal Meat Center on the campus of Texas A&M University on July 7-9, 2016. Registration will be available beginning June 1, 2016, and the camp is restricted to the first 100 participants. Registration materials will be located at animalscience.tamu.edu.

The cost of the camp is $300 per participant, and the cost will include camp activities, meals, and lodging.

Judging topics include:

  • Beef quality and yield grading
  • Beef carcass evaluation
  • Beef cuts evaluation
  • Pork cuts evaluation
  • Lamb carcass evaluation
  • Retail cut evaluation
  • Note-taking methods
  • Questions/reasons
  • Retail identification
